Fantastic show and a spectacular guest! Deoona has been on Coast to Coast am for a full 3 hours so I knew she could stand a 2 hour slot with us. Come to think of it, with all the ads that the big mothership runs overnight the time we spent together just might even out. This was a great episode and introduction to the influance of paranormal TV shows on the American culture.

 

When did it all start?

When did it blow up and get so huge?

Who is J.B. Rhine?

Why the shift from psychic to science in investigations?

Why not to hate on Ghost Hunters!

All of that and much, much, more inside this 2 hour bundle of joy. A special bonus to this episode we even managed to get Nicole to climb out of her shell and get into the mix! She doesn’t usually do as much talking in our episodes because well, she will tell you in this episode for herself check it out its the center of the shrubbery maze.  Deonna is a great person and a hell of a good author with a book in the works now that will surely bring her back on to talk again. North Carolina is chalked full of great researchers and the Rhine Institute so if you ever get a chance to come down and visit some historical haunted sites do it!

Archive: 1st Annual Halloween Extravaganza!

Well it’s in the magical Mind Cemetery cardboard box so you all know what that means. That’s right, the 1st Annual Halloween Extravaganza is up and on archive for all time on the internet! We had a very busy show this week and even extended it a bonus 30 minutes to allow us the time to provide to you a very special treat… or was it a trick? The world may never know for sure but it will be our secret until you give the show a listen and find out for yourselves.

What we can tell you is that in our first Halloween special we managed to cover a slew of topics: A short discussion on the future of the Mind Cemetery podcast (it’s not going away it’s just getting started and from here on out it’s nowhere but up!), an eagerly awaited announcement that is also Top Secret, Nicole and I shared our past Halloween costume choices, talked about hot costumes this year for adults and kids in the form of a top 10 list, one really sick and creepy story about the space needle in Gatlinburg, TN, our Mordecai House tour here in beautiful downtown Raleigh, NC, Heard a recording of a presentation by NSPIR founder George Matthis about his encounters at the Mordecai House, and MUCH, MUCH, MORE!

No Show Thursday :( *UPDATE*

Since it’s so close to the kickoff of another season of the NFL, The Mind Cemetery is calling an audible this week. We have decided to do our usual paranormal news Minisode for this Thurdsday. Which means that Monday 9-12-11 we will not have George or Nikki on to do our monthly CHAPS wrap-up show. What we will be doing is playing the recording on Monday night of the 9-8-11 CHAPS meet-up. This Thursday’s Meet-up will be an open mic night. Looking forward to hearing from all the people who participated in the investigations and what they experienced.

So, to recap. On Monday our regular scheduled show will be the CHAPS meet-up open mic night replay where you can hear about everyone experiences that took part in the Sanford and Creedmoor North Carolina investigations.

EVP Recording

Here is the archive of this past Thursdays Minisode. First off I have listened to the beginning of the show and we both apologize for the stuttering sounds, thanks SKYPE! The actual recording we played is perfect audio wise so no problems there listening to the EVP sessions. In the first half hour we talked about a lot of things, Steve jobs stepping down, Hurricane Irene, 85% of the worlds species undiscovered, Budd Hopkins passing and even a few more nuggets in there for you to listen too. After the first half hour you got a 2 and a half hour recording of the EVP sessions that were conducted on 8-20-11 at the Temple theater in Sanford, NC. The site is a well-known place for paranormal activity, and it surly did not disappoint. The investigation was led by George Mathis, the leader and founder of INSPIR and the meet-up group Carolina Hauntings, Apparitions and Poltergeist Society also known as C.H.A.P.S. Be sure to timestamp the email and what you think you heard, a voice or a sound. ***Please*** remember to not front load anyone when you think you hear a EVP. I absolutely can’t stand when people tell you what to hear. That is not investigation that is showtime for the TV clowns. But, on the other hand just mention you think you heard something and we will go from there.

Thanks to all our fans for listening and remember that we play these shows for the benefit of those that can’t make the investigation or those that can’t get out to do an investigation themselves for whatever reasons. Minisode! Paranormal News and EVP recording

Tonight we return to the broadcast waves to bring you a fan favorite: EVP recordings and paranormal news. Nicole will be joining us for a review o the latest paranormal news, a tribute to Budd Hopkins and the replay of the EVP recordings on 8-20-11 at the Temple Theater in Sanford, NC. The paranormal investigations as led by INSPIR and CHAPS. George Mathis was leading the investigation with Demetria and Toni helping ran the individual groups. Guests: CHAPS Wrap-up Show *Update*

This week we had only one guest be able to make it on, George Matthis. He is the Founder of INSPIR and the organizer of the Carolina Hauntings, Apparitions and Poltergeist Society AKA C.H.A.P.S. We started off nicely but then had a bit of technical difficulty, it is a live broadcast after all, that we had to overcome. We lost George after about 12 minutes into the show and ended up having to call into our own show to pull off the rest of it. A lot of good topics were discussed by your favorite hosts having to do with the legal issues that can arise during a paranormal investigation and we hope you get a chance to listen to the C.H.A.P.S. recording being played from 8-11-11. That episode is chalked full of good information from Roger Mcdorman and should be checked out if you’re an organizer of paranormal investigations, looking to start up a group or even just join in on an investigation some time.

In the last 10 minutes we did have another drop by our internet provided but Nicole put a nice little bow on the end of it and wrapped this puppy up for us all.

*Special* Paranormal Investigation Night *updated w/audio embeded*

WELCOME!
To the the first interactive investigation brought to you by INSPIR, Carolina Hauntings,
Apparitions and Poltergeist Society and yours truly here at the Mind Cemetery.

On Saturday night Nicole and I joined INSPIR and the members of the Carolina Hauntings, Apparitions and Poltergeist Society for a paranormal investigation. Before we headed out to the location in Creedmoor, NC George Mathis reminded us of the expected behavior and gave us some general instructions for how the night will go. The 1st wave of the meet-up group then organized into 2 smaller groups of 5 and 3. Nicole and I joined INSPIR founder Nikki Morock for our part of the investigation along with 2 other CHAPS members. To be honest it was a great experience in a fantastic home with people that were very respectful. We took baseline reading in every room we were in using EMF meters and a Thermometer. Placed 3 recording
devices in different parts of each room before we began the EVP sessions. Did we hear anything…. sure did. Did we hear even more on the recordings? YOU be the judge of that. There were even a few people taking pictures after we asked questions and then while walking around the home in between EVP session and with any luck we will be able to get those pictures up on our site for you to look at and decide on your own what they are. I can tell you right now that I did see one woman’s picture and it was impressive, and I do not get impressed by photos of that nature usually.

So, here is the part where YOU can help US. We will be placing the recording from tonight up on blogtalkradio.com and again in this blog post. We want you to listen very carefully during the EVP session and see if you can hear an EVP.

What if you think you hear a EVP? Simple! Just email me at chip@mindcemetery.net and let me know what time in the recording you think you heard something. I will then listen to that time on the recording and even forward it on to George Mathis and Nikki Morock and see if we can confirm you findings.

This is an INTERACTIVE show. That means you will be able to be apart of the analysis from the comfort of your home/car/office or even while exercising.

Guest: Nikki Morock From INSPIR and C.H.A.P.S

This week we reviewed the results of the Zener card and Dowsing rod experiment. We checked out the PowerPoint that Nicole put together for the meet-up on 7-14-11, color pie charts and everything. We actually saw some interesting correlations and some stats out of the charts that made a lot of sense. We talked about how to scientifically study the paranormal with a little help from the scientific method. How to counter a hardcore skeptic, if that’s even possible. We revealed my Zener card test score….. and it may surprise you. Overall it was a great night of discussion with Nikki Morock that took all kinds of twists and turns into the paranormal.

We also talked about our upcoming investigation of a haunted home here in North Carolina. George and Nikki have allowed Nicole and I to join them as they investigate a home where there has been activity in the past. The Mind Cemetery will be updating you all on what we plan on doing. So far it’s looking like a never before done approach to investigating the paranormal. This is NOT going to be a typical TV sensationalized investigation to say the least. The Minisode: C.H.A.P.S Meet-up tonight!

Tonight we will be recording the presentation by CHAPS host George Mathis and Nikki Morock as they instruct us on how to document anomalous paranormal activity, paranormal investigations and research should be conducted using scientific principles.  Dr. Mark Leary will overview the scientific method and how it can be applied to investigating and conducting research of the paranormal.  After the discussion, Nicolle Morock will lead the group in a few experiments using some common investigation tools and demonstrate how science may be applied to investigations.  The results of each experiment will be recorded, analyzed  and reported back to the group at the July meeting.
