Archive: Laurie Champion

This week we welcomed a veteran in the field with over 34 years of experience in paranormal investigations by the name of Laurie Champion. That’s Champion not Chapman as I had previously stated live and in the other blog. Luckily for me she doesn’t mind the mistake and didn’t take me to the wood shed for it.

This week we ventured into a landmine of live radio and played some EVP recordings that Laurie provided for us for the show. I say this because outside of our old shows where we played the entire EVP sessions on previous investigations with our friends at Carolina Hauntings Apparitions and Poltergeist Society , this was the first time we had a producer along for the ride to help us. Thank to Joe Montaldo for helping with the playing of the recordings the first hour, as he said we really made him work for his $1.95 this week :)

The EVP’s were followed by Laurie giving a rundown o the investigation that she got the EVP from and helped us to decipher what was said. As you may know the interpretation of EVP’s is wide open so take it with a grain of salt if you like, form your own opinion or just sit back and enjoy the ride. Moving on… we got to have a great conversation about her own experiences that got her interested in the field of paranormal research that began when she was younger of course. She helped us define what a Hostile Haunt is and how most people think that there haunting is hostile but in hind sight most of them are anything but hostile just more along the lines of creepy and scary to the people going through it. Which was a good point she brought up about how fear drives the human animal into formulating how they perceive paranormal activity.  We got her view on if any hauntings are demonically based or just spirit based.  Laurie went on to talk about who most of the spirits are that visit you from the afterlife and what they want to do. She also believes them to be very intelligent and fully capable to knowing when and where they are at all times. Which flies int he face of most researchers and how they feel most spirits are “lost”.

Tonight: CHAPS, EVP and Paranormal News

Join us as we replay the meet-up recording from the 11-10-11 Carolina Hauntings Apparitions and Poltergeist Society meet-up. At this meet-up we listened to a presentation by Dr. Mark about EVP analysis and interpretation. George Matthis also made a presentation talking about various EVP analyzing programs out there on the web that you can use to filter out various background noise.

Nicole and I will also review the various paranormal news stories that have been going on since Halloween. The paranormal/Ufology world is abuzz from recent events and interviews on Coast to Coast AM, we will weigh in on it as it pertains to secret programs that some claim that sent people to Mars in the early eighties and even sent President Obama to Mars.

Archive: 1st Annual Halloween Extravaganza!

Well it’s in the magical Mind Cemetery cardboard box so you all know what that means. That’s right, the 1st Annual Halloween Extravaganza is up and on archive for all time on the internet! We had a very busy show this week and even extended it a bonus 30 minutes to allow us the time to provide to you a very special treat… or was it a trick? The world may never know for sure but it will be our secret until you give the show a listen and find out for yourselves.

What we can tell you is that in our first Halloween special we managed to cover a slew of topics: A short discussion on the future of the Mind Cemetery podcast (it’s not going away it’s just getting started and from here on out it’s nowhere but up!), an eagerly awaited announcement that is also Top Secret, Nicole and I shared our past Halloween costume choices, talked about hot costumes this year for adults and kids in the form of a top 10 list, one really sick and creepy story about the space needle in Gatlinburg, TN, our Mordecai House tour here in beautiful downtown Raleigh, NC, Heard a recording of a presentation by NSPIR founder George Matthis about his encounters at the Mordecai House, and MUCH, MUCH, MORE!

WHEW! That was one heck of a run-on sentence huh? Well it is just the tip of the iceberg of the 1st Annual Halloween Extravaganza and we hope you manage to run whatever Titanic your driving right smack into it! So, without further ado, enjoy the show!

1st Annual Halloween Extravaganza!

The first annual Mind Cemetery Halloween Extravaganza!

Welcome to the 2011 Halloween episode! Tonight we will play a recording of the Halloween events here in Raleigh that was hosted at the Mordecai House. While at the Mordecai house Nicole and I took part in a séance. We also were able to join George Matthis and his paranormal investigative organization, NSPIR, while h presented a slew of information that they have gathered in their investigations of the historic downtown property. During the presentation by
NSPIR we learned more of the haunted history of the Mordecai property an heard about 15 EVP recordings. There was also a video clip that was show where they caught a black entity passing in front o the cameras that was positioned in the stairwell.

 

We also will share some of our favorite ghost stories that we have found or experienced in our lives. Finally, we will share with you all the happy voices of various trick or treater’s and we find out this evening. What are the hot costumes for kids these days? What candy do they like to see in their baskets the most? If you see a kid in Yoda garb out and about in Raleigh then say hey!

Yes, that’s the official Mind Cemetery Pumpkin for 2011!

10-17-11 EVP recording Archive Blog

This week was the replay of our recording from an investigation I went on Saturday night, 10-15-11. During the investigation I did have 4 separate events occur and was lucky enough to have the recorder going as they happened to catch them. As you know I have had trouble lately working the recorder and missed an entire Meet-up last Thursday. Unfortunately I goofed it up again. I managed to not his record during the last session that was held in the downstairs bathroom. This room has recently been discovered as the old servant quarter of the home and thought to be the home another spirit living in the home. This would bring the total of spirits in the home up to 7 in total. This spirit is credited with patting or slapping the home owner on the rear while he was using the sink and mirror.

This investigation brought out an unexpected event int he bathroom. Without even prompting one of the flashlights was turned off in the room. It did not go dim or even give off the sound of it being shut off but it was just cut off. It was right in front of me and when the other investigator picked it up to turn it on she had to click it twice, Seems like the on/off switch was bypassed somehow. This was all int he last session that was not recorded due to user error by yours truly.

In the second EVP session you can CLEARLY hear a thump on the wall. This was just the beginning as it wasnt too soon after the wall thump that the most chilling event of the night happened, and thank God it didn’t happen to me. The founder and lead investigator, George Matthis, was sitting on the floor opposite of me . He took up a position on the floor next to the door that is said to be slammed shut by the spirit in the home by the name of “Will”. Will is the son of a previous owner that was killed in the road out front. He wandered into the road drunk on night and was hit by a truck.  Well, while sitting in the same spot I had previously been located on the past investigation George had his head slammed against the wall. This was scary! I jumped up out of my skin as I sat on the floor and thought holy hell this is real! This is the first time a presence in the home has acted out with physical violence. A maid has been growled at but never has something been able to inflict physical harm on a person.

This was a great episode to hear actual evidence collected and see how we all reacted to the events that took place. We have to thank George and Niki with NSPIR and CHAPS for allowing us to record and air the investigation. Of course the Mind Cemetery thank the home owner, whom you hear explain the events of the home to you in the beginning, for opening his lovely (and haunted) home to us all to learn and enjoy.

Bone Chilling Investigation Review

Listen to recorded EVP session from the evenings investigation with C.H.A.P.S headed by NSPIR. We returned to a very active home the evening of Saturday the 15th in the lovely small town of Creedmoor, NC. There we recorded 3 sessions of the 4 we held that evening. All of the sessions were held under the supervision of paranormal investigator George Matthis himself and took part after midnight. In the first 2 sessions you can head some knocks and even a very loud BANG! Listen up closely and you will hear the bang and jump right out of your seat. Me, I jumped out of my skin when it happened because it was right next to me and made the room shake. Hear what happened in that amazing and exciting EVP session for your self and see if you can catch the voice. HINT: it is while we are all talking before we even started the second session.

In the first hour Nicole and I will discuss the nights investigations and even tell you about a new tool I discovered that can be used during an investigation and in your own home everyday of the week if you wish. Minisode: Archive from 10-15-11

Sorry about this weeks CHAPS replay. I messed up and hit the wrong button and of course I missed recording the entire nights presentation that Deonna Kelli Sayed had for all of us. It was a great presentation about the influence of media and the paranormal. She spoke about the first interactions that media has had with paranormal stories. She also spoke about how paranormal activity in general was handled throughout history and used to either make money or further the religious causes of various religions and leaders through history. There was especially a focus on how the whole topic related to early American history, with a timeline of the best of their times researchers and even a few classic American haunting stories.

That being said I did get a chance to get a book signed by her and even talked about having her on our show in December. So, my folly is your winfall! She said she would be more than happy to come on and speak with the audience here at the Mind Cemetery and we can even do another book giveaway to one fo her fans.

We made due and pushed on with episode in light of the major faux paus by yours truly the sometimes hilariously inept host. What did we discuss? Well we talked about the Russian Yeti, Deonna as the editor of Ghostvillage.com, read the 10-5-11 blog she posted to give the audience a taste of what her site is all about, MUFON recent cases, and of course we touched on the Occupy movement.

I did go into detail about the 99%/Occupy movement and what I experienced when i joined up with them on meet-up. I discussed what I felt was the driving force behind the movement and what it was all about. I was a little put off at first but I did not let my experience through posts get to me, after all I am sharp lounged and have little to no political correctness to me. I do endorse the 99%/Occupy movement and hope we can drive out special interests intrenched in our government at every level. Join up if you feel the same way and by all means support your local Occupy/99% movement.

Archive: Terra Nova, EVP Paranormal news Minisode

This minisode was a short one but full of good information. *Spoiler Alert* We talked about what we expect and want out of Terra Nova as a series. Spoke about the other good sci-fi shows that hit the small screen this past year with Falling Skies and The Walking Dead.  By the way The Walking Dead comes back on 10-16-11 on AMC so check for it.

Mentioned the recent David Icke legal issue news and directed people to check out the blog here on our site. Of course we have a blog here with links so you can check out the news first hand.

Talked about some of the new UFO sightings on the MUFON case management system. A lot of the new reports coming in over the past year have been describing multiple color orbs. They even describe possible dogfights between the orbs in the air which is interesting on its own. MUFON has reported a large increase in sightings this year. The normal amounts are in the 500′s per month and they report over 1,000 a month this year. This is huge int he field of Ufology and may be signaling something much bigger ont he horizon.

Last, during our Burden of Proof segment, Nicole and I discussed EVP. Electronic voice phenomena as its come to be known is a recording of a voice or voices on a device during the investigation of paranormal activity. We defined what it is and how it can be used to determine what is actually going on at an active location. Nicole had 10 recording played for us and I tried to identify what was being said. Check out the podcast and see if you can hear anything in them and find out what was being said.

Minisode: Paranormal news, Terra Nova review and The Burden of Proof

This week we have a special segment where we review the new FOX series Terra Nova. Is it a LOST replacement? will it have as many unanswered annoying questions lingering as LOST? Or will we find ourselves satisfied int he end no matter how it turns out: good, bad or ugly! This week Nicole and I will discuss our hopes and thoughts on the premier and what we hope to see covered in future episodes.

Finally, Nicole will return and come back swinging in our new segment The Burden of Proof. This week we will discuss the EVP phenomena. Fact? Fake? or just plain all in your head? Will she  run off in disgust after being proved wrong again or will she stick it right back in my face that everything I believe in is GARBAGE!

Show Archive Update: Ghost Stories Episode

Get em’ while there hot of the podcast!

Nicole and I shared our experiences during the investigations we went along for headed by INSPIR and out frinds at CHAPS. We got to hear a lot of great stories and even got to listen to EVP Reocurdigns and a couple great videos. Last but not least we saw a couple great pictures of what could be described as votex’s. Nice pictures of a spiral one and a circle one both of which were of a purle/blue color.

Talked about the South Bend UFO sighting and even the no fly zone’s of the moon that our government has requested.
